I played Gary Stone in the second round of the Dutch Darts Masters which was a very close game but I managed to break his throw in the last leg by taking out 106 to win 6-5.
I played Kyle Anderson next but after winning the first leg of the game it was also to be my last losing 6-1 after hitting 4 x 180’s and averaging 96.
The crowd were amazing in Venray 5000 plus Saturday and Sunday.
Congratulations to Michael Van Gerwen on winning the event on his home turf.
I have already qualified for the next European event in Riesa Germany so am hoping for a better run in that one.
Exhibitions this coming weekend in Melton Mowbray, Aberdeenshire and Glasgow. Just a few miles !!!!!!!
I made the last 16 on Friday by defeating Steve Brown 6-5, Paul Nicholson 6-3, Kim Huybrechts 6-3, then lost to James Wade. I went out second round on the Saturday and first round on the Sunday. Thanks to my mate Rob Wigley for putting me up over the weekend it was really appreciated and we had some great laughs. My final thank you goes to anyone who couldn’t make the evening but still donated their £5 ticket money and to Darren Ellis with a donation of £250 all the way from Shanghai!!!! Here’s a great picture from the night, Cheers Dave Trivett
Andrew Gilding denied me a birthday win with a 6-4 victory in the afternoon session’s final game, finishing six doubles from seven attempts in a clinical display of darts.
Gilding took out 74 in two darts for an immediate breaks of throw before doubling his lead on tops, then I hit back in the third by taking out 124 on the bull after the we traded 180s.
Gilding replied with another maximum and double 12 for a 13-darter, then I took out my second 124 on bull to pull back to 3-2.
Double four moved Gilding 4-2 up after the we again swapped maximums, I replied by taking out 72 only to miss two darts at double 12 to level as a 60 finish on tops maintained Andrew’s flawless finishing with a fifth successive double.
I landed a 177 in a 14-darter to keep my hopes alive at 5-4, but missed the bull to finish 121 to force a decider, allowing Gilding in to finish double ten to seal the win.
“It was a tough game but I played well averaging 94.73 and Andrew 96.00 and I have just got to look forward to next weekend in Barnsley. “
Well after a disappointing couple of days in Barnsley I am now looking ahead to the 2015 Gibraltar Darts Trophy at the Victoria Stadium this coming weekend. I usually play really well there and it would be great to go one better than last year.
I am really pleased to have qualified for the European Tour 3 in Ballhausforum in Munich and also the European Tour 4 in Venray Netherlands both being played later this year.
Everyone has ups and downs in darts and I’m hoping to put my downs behind me and push forward.
Again I would like to thanks my sponsors: Winmau, Wigley Contracts Ltd and Airport Placements Ltd, hope to make you all proud this year !!!!
I drew Peter Wright in round 3 of the UK Open Finals in Butlins Minehead, held my own to 5 all, missed doubles to go 6-5 up and Peter romped home 9-5 win.
I played well but Peter was on tremendous form and made it to the final where he eventually lost to Michael Van Gerwen.|
The good new is that I have already qualified for the German Darts Masters in Ballhausforum Munich European Tour 3 and also the Dutch Darts Masters in Venray Netherlands European Tour 4.
I am looking forward to the first of this years Pro Tour Events at the Barnsley Metrodome this coming weekend.
